What is PM Vishwakarma Scheme?
PM Vishwakarma is a government program started by the Prime Minister on September 17, 2023, to help people who work with their hands and tools, such as artisans and craftspeople.
Who Does It Help?
This scheme is for people who work in various trades, like carpenters, boat makers, blacksmiths, and many more. It covers 18 different trades in total.
Benefits for Artisans and Craftspeople:
- Recognition: Artisans and craftspeople will get a special certificate and an ID card.
- Skill Improvement: They will receive basic training for 5-7 days and advanced training for 15 days or more, along with a daily stipend of Rs. 500.
- Toolkit Support: At the start of their basic skill training, they will receive a toolkit incentive of up to Rs. 15,000 in the form of e-vouchers.
- Financial Help: They can get a loan of up to Rs. 3 lakh to start or grow their business. The first part of the loan, up to Rs. 1 lakh, is without needing to provide any collateral (like property). The interest rate is low, at 5%, and the government helps with 8% of the interest. After completing basic training and meeting certain requirements, they can access the second part of the loan.
- Digital Transaction Bonus: For every digital payment or receipt, they will receive an extra Re. 1, up to a maximum of 100 transactions per month.
- Marketing Support: Help with marketing, like quality certification, branding, selling on e-commerce websites, and advertising, to connect them with more customers.
Additional Information:
The scheme also helps these artisans and craftspeople become a part of the formal business world. They will be enrolled on a platform called Udyam Assist. To join this program, they need to verify their identity through Common Service Centers, and their application will go through a three-step verification process
